They called you "salaried" so they would never have to pay you for your real hours. Do not let them get away with it.
Here is the truth most workers never hear. If you put in more than forty hours a week and you do not see a single dollar of overtime, your employer may be breaking the law. A fancy job title does not erase your legal rights. Companies hand out impressive sounding titles every single day for one reason: to label you "exempt" and pocket the overtime they owe you.
Every hour you work past forty is money that belongs in your pocket, not theirs. Over months and years that adds up to thousands of dollars in stolen wages, and the law says you can claim it back. In many cases you can recover up to three years of unpaid overtime. But the clock is running on your right to file.
You worked the hours. You earned the money. Now it is time to take it back.
At Atlas Law Center we fight for workers who were cheated out of what they earned, and we do not get paid unless you do. One phone call is all it takes to find out what you are truly owed.

THAT'S NOT YOU. BUT THEY BELIEVE IT.
Your reputation is your most valuable professional asset. Imagine discovering that a video, audio recording, or message circulating in your workplace appears to show you saying or doing something highly inappropriate. The problem is, you never did it. You are the victim of a deepfake or AI impersonation, and your career is suddenly on the line.
As artificial intelligence makes it easier to fabricate realistic media, malicious actors in the workplace can use these tools to sabotage colleagues or retaliate against whistleblowers. When an employer acts on fabricated evidence without conducting a proper investigation, they are participating in your wrongful termination and defamation.
You must aggressively defend your professional identity. If your employer is using AI-generated fabrications to justify discipline or termination, you have the right to hold them accountable. Your truth matters, and the law can help you clear your name.

THEY CAN'T OWN YOUR FUTURE.
You are ready to take the next step in your career. You have found a better opportunity, but your current employer is threatening you with a non-compete agreement. They claim you cannot work in your industry, use your skills, or earn a living in your chosen profession. They want to hold your future hostage.
The legal landscape is shifting rapidly. Broad, restrictive non-compete agreements that prevent you from finding new employment are increasingly being challenged and invalidated. The Federal Trade Commission and state laws are moving to protect employee mobility. Your skills, your experience, and your talent belong to you, not to your former employer.
You have the right to advance your career and provide for your family. Do not let an overbroad contract intimidate you into staying in a toxic environment or passing up a life-changing opportunity.

THE MACHINE WROTE YOUR REVIEW.
For years, you have been a top performer. Suddenly, your annual review is filled with vague criticisms and low scores, leading to a performance improvement plan or even termination. The catch? Your manager did not write the review. An artificial intelligence system analyzed your keystrokes, your screen time, and your emails to generate a flawed assessment of your value.
Employers are increasingly using automated systems to monitor productivity and evaluate employees. When these systems misinterpret data or fail to account for the context of your work, the results can be devastating to your career. Firing an employee based on a flawed, machine-generated review can cross the line into wrongful termination, especially if the algorithm disproportionately impacts protected groups.
You are a professional, not a data point. If an automated system is being used as a pretext to push you out, you must challenge the narrative. You have the right to demand fairness in how your work is evaluated.

YOU SPOKE UP. THEY SHUT YOU OUT.
Integrity requires courage. When you witness fraud, safety violations, or illegal practices at your company, doing the right thing means speaking up. However, many employees who report misconduct find themselves suddenly isolated, demoted, or terminated. The company turns the problem around and makes you the target.
Retaliation against a whistleblower is a serious violation of the law. Whether you reported financial fraud under the False Claims Act or raised internal concerns about workplace safety, your employer cannot punish you for telling the truth. They cannot silence you by threatening your livelihood.
You took a stand for what is right. Now, it is time to stand up for yourself. The law provides powerful protections and potential rewards for those who expose corporate wrongdoing. Do not let them silence your voice.

THE ALGORITHM SAID NO.
You applied for the perfect role. You have the exact experience required. Yet, your application was rejected almost instantly. Behind the scenes, a machine made the decision. Artificial intelligence is increasingly screening resumes, analyzing video interviews, and filtering out candidates before a human ever sees their name.
The problem is that these algorithms are not impartial. They often inherit the biases of their creators and the historical data they were trained on. If an AI system systematically rejects older applicants, women, or minorities, that is algorithmic discrimination. The technology may be new, but the civil rights violations are the same.
You deserve a fair opportunity based on your qualifications, not a hidden algorithmic bias. If you suspect discriminatory hiring practices are blocking your career path, you have the right to challenge the system.

YOU'RE EXPECTING. THEY'RE FIRING.
Pregnancy should be a time of preparation and joy, not a period of professional anxiety. Yet, many expectant mothers find their careers suddenly derailed. You announce your pregnancy, and shortly after, your performance is scrutinized, your responsibilities are reduced, or you are suddenly terminated.
This is pregnancy discrimination, and it is illegal. The law protects your right to work while pregnant and your right to take leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Employers cannot use your pregnancy as an excuse to push you out of the workplace or retaliate against you for requesting time off to care for your newborn.
If your employer is suddenly building a case against you after you shared your news, you must recognize the pattern. You have rights, and you do not have to accept unfair treatment. Protect your career and your growing family.

Your employer may be watching every keystroke, tracking every mouse movement, monitoring your location, and using AI to score your "productivity"... all without your knowledge.
AI-powered employee surveillance tools have exploded across American workplaces. Employers are deploying software that captures screenshots every few minutes, analyzes your facial expressions on video calls, monitors your email and Slack messages, and generates algorithmic "performance scores" that determine who gets promoted and who gets fired.
Here is what many workers do not realize: this surveillance can cross legal lines. When AI monitoring systems are used to target workers based on protected characteristics (age, disability, pregnancy, race, or union activity) it may constitute illegal discrimination. When surveillance data is used to manufacture pretextual reasons to terminate employees, it may be retaliation.
You have the right to know what your employer is collecting about you. You have the right to challenge terminations driven by biased algorithms. And if your employer used AI surveillance to build a case against you, Atlas Law Center wants to hear from you.
The future of work should not come at the cost of your rights.

Your employer is required by law to pay you every dollar you have earned. But wage theft is one of the most widespread and underreported labor violations in America.
It does not always look like a stolen paycheck. Wage theft happens when your employer:
• Rounds down your hours or shaves minutes off your timesheet
• Requires you to work through lunch breaks without pay
• Misclassifies you as an "independent contractor" to avoid paying overtime
• Fails to pay you time-and-a-half for every hour worked over 40 in a week
• Deducts pay for uniforms, tools, or equipment that drops your wages below minimum wage
Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Illinois wage laws, you are entitled to every hour you worked. If your employer has been stealing from your paycheck, you may be owed back pay, damages, and attorney fees.
The statute of limitations on wage theft claims is limited. If you suspect your employer has been underpaying you, do not wait.
We fight for workers and we fight to win.

AI is reshaping the workforce at a speed few anticipated — and workers are being left behind without the legal protections they deserve.
A recent Fortune investigation reveals that nearly 75% of unemployed workers do not apply for unemployment benefits, often because they wrongly believe they are ineligible. Now, as AI-driven layoffs accelerate across the tech sector and beyond, that gap in awareness could become a crisis.
Here is what every worker needs to understand: AI restructuring does not exempt employers from the law. Companies must still comply with the WARN Act (which requires advance notice of mass layoffs), anti-discrimination statutes, and proper severance obligations — even when they are replacing human roles with automation. If you were laid off as part of an AI-driven workforce reduction, your employer may still owe you more than they have offered.
At Atlas Law Center, we are watching this issue closely. The future of work is changing fast, but your rights are not negotiable. If you have been impacted by a recent layoff and believe something was not handled fairly, do not walk away without understanding your legal standing. The consultation is free — and it could change everything.

Did you know that quitting your job does not automatically mean you lose your right to unemployment benefits?
Many employees stay in hostile or toxic work environments because they fear that leaving means losing their financial safety net. Here is the truth: if you are forced to resign due to severe harassment, discrimination, or unsafe working conditions, it may be considered a "constructive discharge" under the law.
When a workplace becomes so intolerable that any reasonable person would feel compelled to quit, the law often treats your resignation as a termination — meaning you may still be eligible for unemployment benefits, and you may have grounds for a legal claim against your employer.
Do not let your employer pressure you into believing you have no options. You have rights, and you do not have to tolerate illegal workplace behavior.
If you believe you have been forced out of your job, protect yourself. We fight for workers — and we fight to win.

EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION
Recent shifts in federal oversight have redefined how agencies prioritize workplace discrimination investigations. These changes alter resource allocation and can influence the types of intentional discrimination claims that receive immediate administrative attention from federal investigators.
Employees must understand that federal enforcement priorities do not change the underlying protections guaranteed by federal law. However, these updates do affect agency response times and investigative focus. Knowing how these shifts operate can help you protect your professional rights if you encounter unfair treatment on the job.
Read our latest article to learn more about navigating intentional discrimination claims under updated federal guidelines.
If you believe you have faced unlawful discrimination at work, contact Atlas Law Center today to discuss your situation with a qualified employment attorney.

He noticed the company was underpaying overtime and filed a formal complaint. HR thanked him for his “diligence.” Three days later, his desk was moved to the basement, his keycard access was restricted, and he was placed on a 30-day PIP.
Retaliation is the hidden epidemic of the American workplace. You do the right thing by reporting illegal behavior, and suddenly you’re the one being punished. Retaliation takes many forms: sudden negative reviews, exclusion from meetings, shift changes, or outright termination.
The law explicitly protects employees who engage in “protected activities,” like whistleblowing or participating in an investigation. In fact, retaliation claims are often easier to prove in court than the underlying complaint itself. If you spoke up and are now facing consequences, your employer has doubled down on their illegal behavior. Let the law stand up for you.
If you witness retaliation against a colleague, what is the best way to support them?

Did you know that student loans can be discharged in bankruptcy?
It requires proving “undue hardship” through an adversary proceeding, a separate lawsuit within your bankruptcy case, and courts have historically set that bar very high.
However, 2022 guidance from the U.S. Department of Justice and Department of Education significantly expanded how courts evaluate undue hardship, and more Illinois borrowers are successfully discharging student loans in 2024-2026 than at any point in the past 30 years.
We're here to fight on your behalf for student loan relief — whether through bankruptcy discharge, IDR optimization, PSLF compliance, or servicer error remediation.

Debt settlement — negotiating with a creditor or collector to accept less than the full balance owed as payment in full — is a legitimate option for Illinois consumers, and typical settlements range from 40 to 60 cents on the dollar.
But timing, documentation, and tax consequences matter enormously.

Credit report errors can have a significant impact on your life, as they can cause you to miss out on the chance to get a loan, credit card, low interest rates, employment, housing, and other essential opportunities.
Here are some common mistakes on credit reports:
🔵 Incorrect credit card balances
🔵 On-time payments mistakenly reported as late
🔵 Current accounts listed as in collections or charged off
🔵 Paid off or discharged liens, loans, or credit cards reported as outstanding debts
🔵 Vehicle repossession or bankruptcy that did not occur
🔵 Reporting the same account multiple times
🔵 Reporting someone else’s debts on your credit report
If you notice these or other errors on your credit report, you have the right to notify the credit bureaus so they can investigate the issue and make the necessary corrections. If they fail to take action, you can reach out to a skilled credit report attorney for legal guidance.

"Excellent organization. Extremely well managed and employs equally very talented young professionals in every aspect of the business of Law. Honest and forthright. Dedicated employees, specifically for me, Oriana, ensured that I was kept up to date on every phase of the multi-month process. In short, they delivered exactly what they promised and I would used then again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend them for anyone who's been discriminated against. Especially in this day and age where perpetrators are much more sophisticated in their tactics." says Eael on Google

The current minimum wage in Illinois is $15 per hour.
Tipped employees, minors, and workers with disabilities have different rates, and overtime rules add an additional layer of protection for workers putting in more than 40 hours per week. Chicago has a minimum wage above $15 per hour, dependent on employer size.
If you suspect your employer is violating the Illinois Minimum Wage Law — by paying below the minimum wage, improperly taking a tip credit, making unlawful deductions, or failing to pay overtime — you have legal remedies.
Contact Atlas Law Center at (630) 394-6350 for your free consultation. We can help guide you in filing a complaint with the Illinois Department of Labor or sue your employer directly. https://birdeye.cx/6jdyfb

Illinois is an at-will employment state, meaning either party can end the employment relationship at any time, for any reason (or no reason at all).
However, an employer cannot legally fire you for any of the following reasons:
🔵 Discrimination
🔵 Retaliation
🔵 Whistleblowing
🔵 Implied or express employment contracts
🔵 Collective bargaining agreements
If you think you were wrongfully terminated from your job, call Atlas Law Center today at (630) 394-6350. We look forward to learning more about your case and helping you recover the damages you may be owed. https://birdeye.cx/du8pfy

How do I file a discrimination charge in Illinois?
Step 1: Act within the deadline. You have 300 days to file with the Illinois Department of Human Rights or 365 if you only wish to pursue a claim under the The Illinois Human Rights Act.
Step 2: Gather your evidence. Document discriminatory conduct: dates, times, who was involved, what was said or done, and any witnesses.
Step 3: File your charge. You can file with the IDHR online, by mail, or in person at their Chicago or Springfield offices. Filing with the EEOC automatically cross-files with the IDHR (and vice versa) through a work-sharing agreement, so you typically only need to file at one agency.
Step 4: The investigation. After filing, the agency will notify your employer and begin an investigation. This may include a request for documents, witness interviews, and a mediation offer.
Step 5: Right to sue. If the investigation does not resolve your charge, you can request a Right to Sue letter from the EEOC (after 180 days) and proceed to federal court, or request a hearing before an IDHR administrative law judge.
